Sloppy Joe Grilled Cheese Sandwich

Serves 4
The tastiest comfort food mash-up.
Ingredients:
1 tablespoon butter
1 yellow onion, finely chopped
1/2 green bell pepper, finely chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 lb ground beef
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon yellow mustard
1 tablespoon brown sugar
2/3 cup ketchup
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
4 tablespoons butter
8 slices Texas Toast
2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
Directions:
- Place the butter in a large skillet and bring to medium heat. Once the butter has melted, add the onion and bell pepper. Sauté for 5 minutes, until softened. Then add the garlic and cook for 1 minute.
- Add the ground beef and cook, until evenly browned. Drain liquid from the skillet.
- Return the skillet to the stovetop and stir in the Worcestershire sauce, mustard, brown sugar, ketchup. Season with salt and pepper. Let simmer untouched for 5 minutes. Remove from heat. Set aside.
- Preheat a griddle to medium.
- Spread butter on one side of each slice of Texas Toast. Place four slices of Texas Toast butter side down on the griddle. Sprinkle a 1/4 cup of shredded cheddar on each slice, followed by a generous scoop of the Sloppy Joe mixture, and then add another 1/4 cup of cheese on top. Place a second slice of Texas Toast on top of the butter side up. Cook for 2-3 minutes until golden brown. Carefully flip and cook for another 2-3 minutes. Transfer to a plate to cool.
- Slice each sandwich in half. Enjoy!
