Rate this Recipe
Serves 4
Did someone turn on the heat?
Ingredients:
1/2 cup hot sauce, your preference |
1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes, more to taste |
2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar |
1/4 teaspoon salt, more to taste |
1 cup brown sugar |
2 teaspoons minced garlic |
4 boneless chicken breasts |
1 tablespoon cooking oil |
Ground black pepper, to taste |
Directions:
- Combine hot sauce, red pepper flakes, apple cider vinegar, 1/4 teaspoon salt, brown sugar and garlic in a saucepan. Bring to medium-high heat and let boil. Once boiling, reduce heat to low and let simmer for 8-10 minutes. Stir occasionally to not burn sauce.
- Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Season both sides of the chicken breasts with salt and pepper.
- Pour cooking oil into a skillet and bring to high heat. Once hot, place chicken into the skillet and cook for 1-2 minutes per side to sear.
- Transfer chicken breasts to the baking sheet and place into the oven to cook for 5 minutes.
- Remove baking sheet from oven. Spoon a small amount of firecracker sauce over chicken and baste. Return to oven and bake for and additional 12-15 minutes, until chicken is thoroughly cooked.
- Serve chicken with remaining firecracker sauce and enjoy!
