The Perfect Caramel Apple

Serves 6
It doesn’t get any better than homemade!
Ingredients:
6 apples, your preference |
1/4 cup light corn syrup |
2 tablespoons unsalted butter |
2 cups sugar |
1/2 cup heavy cream |
1/4 teaspoon salt |
1/2 cup water |
6 wooden skewers |
1 teaspoon vanilla extract |
Candies, optional |
Directions:
- In a saucepan, combine corn syrup, water and sugar. Bring pan to boil on medium-high heat. Stir ingredients together until sugar dissolves.
- After sugar is dissolved, begin to swirl pan for 8-10 minutes, until mixture is amber in color.
- Remove pan from heat. Whisk in heavy cream, salt, vanilla extract and butter.
- Return pan to stovetop and reduce heat to low. Continue to whisk ingredients until a smooth texture.
- Remove pan from heat and let cool.
- Insert skewers into tops of apples. Dip and roll apples in caramel sauce. Coat evenly. Allow excess to drip off back into pan. Coat in candies, if desired.
- Arrange apples on parchment paper and let harden.
