Preheat your oven to 375° F. Line a 12-cup muffin tin with baking liners.
Stir together the flour, baking powder, cinnamon, salt, baking soda, ginger, nutmeg, and cardamom in a mixing bowl. Set aside.
In a second larger mixing bowl, cream together the butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy. Then beat in the eggs one at a time. Stir in the vanilla extract.
Slowly pour and stir the flour mixture into the butter mixture, followed by the milk. Mix until just combined. Then fold in the diced pears.
Divide the batter among the muffin cups, filling each about 2/3 full.
Place in the oven to bake for 20-25 minutes.
Remove from the oven. Let the muffins cool in the pan for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
